I've come across something quite interesting!

Whoile browsing the net late last night I've cme accross a number of theories about the Pokemon universe, and I feel it HAS to be shared, so why not through my blog =P

I'm gonna post bit  by bit so you guys keep checking for updates and hopefully we can have a good discussion about this theory in my comments.

Heres the first bit.

Have you ever noticed that the pacing, tone and story development of Pokemon changes after Ash is hit by lightning in the early episodes, how Ash and his world were relatively normal until after the incident?

I have a theory.

The accident with the bike put Ash into a coma. Days later he was found and was hurried to the hospital and treated with heavy medications, which is why Team Rocket became less menacing. The medication took effect and stabilized his coma dreams so that instead of being terrifying, they became idyllic, allowing him to live out his Pokemon master fantasies.

After the beginning episodes, the series is the result of Ash's subconscious mind fulfilling his desires, as well as attempting to escape reality. Should Ash realize he's in a coma, he would wake up, but suffer brain damage, so he must take down all of his mental barriers one by one until he can come to grips with who he is and escape his coma (since his mind will not allow him to escape until he's come to terms with himself).

Opinions? leave a comment!

  3. I always love pokemon info, I thought it was the craziest thing when apparently kids were apparently dying from the Lavender town music.

  7. I must say, an interesting theory...but I just can't see the creators of the anime thinking the same thing. Call me closed minded?

  8. It's a good theory. Kind of reminds of the movie "Stay" or "Jacob's Ladder". However I don't think the creators of pokemon would be thinking that advanced, it's an anime after all :P

  10. Glad to see some responses on this post!

@branco, Gary will be discussed a little later

@mdest I would accept this but it's the fact that it IS an anime that makes me think deeper, the japanese culture always takes things to an extreme, Anime is no exception. thins get real deep, I'm sure there are all kind of subliminal things going on in other animes. If the shows like Death Note can get s dynamic openly why not pokemon subliminally?

  12. Honestly I didn't watch Pokemon when It began. I just saw the first/some chapters and the first movie. I collected some photo albums, and toys, and I played the game boy games, but It was like 7 year ago (maybe). I believe there can be hidden dilemmas into those kind of animes. Creators have more imagination that we all together...

  17. Well, It´s kinda Captain subasa ending, were Oliver was in fact hit by the car and lost his legs xDDD Japanese are deep to think, there are a lot of animes that proves that: School days, death note, saikano, etc. So everything can happen. Just one thing...pokemon is made HONESTLY for kids...so...who knows
